| Monrovia,
CA – Sept 29, 2005 -- Xponent Photonics,
the leading innovator of FTTx optical components,
today announced the availability of a reference
design transceiver for GPON ONU/ONT applications.
The reference design meets demanding specifications
for analog video receiver performance including:
- 50 to 870 MHz bandwidth
- 48 dB CNR or better
- Wide dynamic range of -6 to +2 dBm
- 16 dBmV/ch RF output
The digital transmitter section supports rates
of 155 Mbps, 622Mbps, 1.24 Gbps and 2.48 Gbps
with output power capability from -4 to +4 dBm
. The digital receiver designs support downstream
rates of 2.48 Mbps with -25dBm typical Sensitivity,
1.24 Mbps with -29 typical Sensitivity and 622
Mbps with -32 dBm typical Sensitivity.
Xponent offers royalty-free use of its discrete
reference design transceiver to transceiver and
system vendor customers of its triplexer and diplexer
optical blocks. Xponent’s discrete reference
designs help customers to reduce their engineering
investment and time-to-market for FTTx transceivers,
subsystems and systems. The new triplexer reference
design utilizes off-the-shelf variable rate ICs
that are suitable for standard BPON applications
(622 Mbps downstream/155 Mbps upstream) and GEPON
applications (1.24 Gbps upstream/ 1.24 Gbps downstream)
in addition to GPON applications (up to 2.5 Gbps
downstream/ 2.5 Gbps upstream).
Xponent’s discrete reference design support
for optical block customers includes:
- Schematic and Gerber files
- Detailed BoM
- Sample Boards with complete test data sheets
- Manufacturing application support for two
methods of low-cost PCB attach of Xponent optical
blocks to PCB: 1) via flex-circuit leads with
packaged optical block or 2) via wire bonding
from contact pads on the unpackaged PLC optical
block directly to the PCB.
